A Milestone names a one-time checkpoint inside a Project. Examples include “Beta to design partners,” “Invitations mailed,” and “Venue confirmed.”

Add a checkpoint people plan around

Add a Milestone from the Project when the date divides the work into a meaningful stage. Assign the Tasks that must be complete by that checkpoint. Deleting a Milestone does not delete its Tasks. Docket removes the Milestone from those Tasks and keeps the work. Moving a Task to another Project takes it off its old Project’s Milestone.

From an agent or the API

Agents connected over MCP read and edit Milestones with the milestones tool, put Tasks on one with update, and filter with list_work’s milestone filter. organize places Milestones and their Tasks as part of a plan. The REST API serves them under /v1/orgs/{orgId}/projects/{projectId}/milestones, and GET /v1/orgs/{orgId}/tasks?milestoneId= lists a Milestone’s Tasks. Use a Cycle for the recurring period a Team works in. Use a due date on a Task when only one item is due.
