Cycles divide a Team’s work into recurring planning periods. A manager sets each Team’s Cycle length from 1 through 365 calendar days in the Team page’s Settings tab. One Team can plan each day while another plans by week, month, or quarter.

Let Docket maintain the cadence

Docket creates Cycle windows when someone needs them and marks the current one from today’s date. Opening a Cycle picker prepares the rest of this quarter and the next one. Use Go to date… to prepare the Cycle containing any later date. You can plan years ahead without filling the workspace with unused Cycles. Changing the cadence does not move planned work. Docket keeps the old schedule through the last future Cycle that contains a Task, removes only empty generated Cycles after that point, and starts the new cadence on the date shown in Settings. A connected provider can own a Team’s cadence. When it does, Docket shows the setting as read-only and you change the schedule in that provider.

Move the plan without moving the work

Adding a Task to a Cycle changes when the Team plans to do it. The Task keeps its Project, Team, assignee, and relationships. A Cycle compares committed work with Team capacity and shows a burn-up of completed work. A Project’s work list defaults to the current Cycle. Use a Milestone for a one-time checkpoint inside one Project.
