# Today

> Choose what to do now, keep the next task visible, and plan around the rest of your day.

Today gives you one place to decide what deserves your attention. It combines your personal plan
with status from the work you can see across your workspaces. The Agenda stays beside it in the
utility rail.

## Add a task or ask Athena

Use the field at the top of Today in either mode:

* **Add task** captures work in the selected workspace.
* **Ask Athena** opens Athena in the utility rail with your question and workspace already set.

You can switch modes without leaving the page.

## Plan an empty day

Select **Plan today with Athena** when you have not made a plan yet. Athena drafts the plan in the
utility rail. You can keep Today open while you review the conversation and the proposed changes.

Athena does not apply changes until you approve them. See
[Proposals and approvals](/docs/guides/athena/proposals-and-approvals).

## Work through Now and After this

An active plan separates the current task from the tasks that follow it. Use the inline actions to
complete, defer, promote, or timebox a task. Open the task when you need its full details.

The plan is personal. Adding a task to Today does not change its project, status, or assignee.

## Read Work in motion

**Work in motion** shows status from Projects and Initiatives that matter to your day. Open a card
to read the underlying work instead of treating the summary as a second copy of it.

When the current plan is clear, Today can suggest more work. You can add a suggestion to the plan,
start it now, or ask Athena what to move next.

## Use the Agenda

Open **Agenda** from the utility rail to see calendar events and planned tasks for one day. Switch
between list and timeline views. You can timebox a task, move it to another day, remove it from the
plan, and edit calendar items that allow changes.

Use [Calendar](/docs/guides/daily/calendar-and-scheduling) when you need to compare several days or
people.

## Review the day

Today offers a recap later in the day. The recap stays below the forward plan so old work does not
push the next decision out of view.
