# Workspaces

> Keep each organization's work separate while using one personal Home across them.

A workspace holds one organization's people, Teams, settings, connections, and work. Home gives
you personal views across every workspace you can access.

## Use Home across workspaces

The Home section of the sidebar contains your personal surfaces:

* **Today** shows your current plan and work in motion.
* **Tasks** shows Tasks across your workspaces.
* **Calendar** combines your available schedules.
* **Time** shows your private work history.
* **Inbox** holds notifications that concern you.
* **Athena** opens your Athena conversation.
* **Stream** records activity across your workspaces.
* **Portfolio** places dated Projects on one cross-workspace timeline.
* **Search** finds work and actions.

Each item keeps its workspace identity. Home does not merge the underlying data.

## Work inside one workspace

The Workspace section of the sidebar binds the app to one workspace. It contains My Work, Triage,
Tasks, Stream, Library, Initiatives, Programs, Projects, Cycles, Teams, People, Views, Graph, and
Settings.

Use the workspace switcher at the top of the sidebar to change workspaces or create one. Docket
then uses that workspace's terminology, workflows, people, and permissions.

## Use a personal workspace

A personal workspace stores work that belongs only to you. It uses the same Tasks, Projects,
Cycles, Views, and Athena tools as a shared workspace. It does not need a member roster.

## Control access

Workspace roles provide the normal access level. More specific grants can allow a person or role to
view, comment, contribute, assign, or manage one part of the workspace.

An admin manages members, roles, invitations, and object-level access under **Settings → Members &
Access**. See [Workspaces and access](/docs/guides/manage/workspaces-and-access) for the admin steps.

A private object requires an explicit grant. A workspace-visible object follows the access that
the member already has. A link to another workspace does not grant access to it.

## Leave a workspace

Leaving removes the workspace from your account. The workspace and its work remain available to
the other members.
